VIDEO: Saturday Splash: Rotary Club opens splash pad at Jardin de los Heroes Park

Over one hundred people attended the opening ceremonies of a long-awaited project that was years in the making.

At 10AM this morning, Rotary Club of Uvalde members along with Mayor Hector Luevano spoke at an opening ceremony held at the Jardin de los Heroes Park located on the west side of town to a crowd of community leaders and families before the Uvalde Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting in from of the Ox Ranch Splash Pad which features a tiger, giraffe fountains along with other colorful animals.

Texas State Representative District 80 Don McLaughlin was the first get soaked in the new splash pad.

According to Rotary Club District 5840, The Rotary Club of Uvalde broke ground on the splash pad last year on June 19, 2025, with the groundbreaking of a $1.8 million splash pad at El Jardín de los Héroes Park. The project was entirely funded by Ox Ranch, in partnership with the Rotary Club and the City of Uvalde, the 4,200-square-foot play area will feature animal-themed designs and a recycled water system.

Rotary Club of Uvalde President Mayra Vasquez posted the following on the local service club’s Facebook page:

“Splash-pad is open today
The city is new owner of the Ox Ranch splashpad.
From the city -Hours of operation. Monday closed for Maintenance. They will be open Tuesday -through -Sunday from 12pm to 7 P.M.
