Monday evening November 27th shortly after 5 PM, a Uvalde Police officer or officers spotted a vehicle driving on East Main Street in Uvalde and after running the car’s plates, the officers were informed the car was stolen.

The car was pulled over near the location of 3100 East Main Street in the parking lot in front of Cato’s, a clothing store located in a retail strip mall near Walmart. Two other Uvalde Police units also responded to the traffic stop.

According to Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rordriguez, the owner of the vehicle was arrested for a brief time. The owner of the car was released soon afterwards as the driver was able to produce paperwork confirming he is the rightful owner of the car.

Rodriguez indicated the situation was regrettable but went on to say the officers have to rely on the data that is available to them at the time.
