Uvalde County Commissioners issue County-wide burn ban: Commissioner Jerry Bates honored at his last meeting serving on the Court.

   The Uvalde County Commissioners court voted to approve issuing a Countywide Burn Ban earlier today. County Judge Bill Mitchell cited ongoing drought conditions as a reason for the ban. 

   The Court also voted to approve fireworks sales for Christmas/New Years but not allowing stick rockets or rockets with fins to be sold. A county ordinance has been approved with possible fines for violations of the ban. 

   Uvalde County Commissioner Jerry Bates was honored at today’s Commissioners Court meeting. Today’s Monday, December 9th meeting was Bates final meeting to serve on the Court at the Precinct 3 Commissioner. Bates stated it was his desire to remain on the Court, but his wife has other ideas. According to Uvalde County Judge Bill Mitchell, Jerry Bates has presided over 600 Commissioners Court meetings in addition to attending numerous other meetings representing Uvalde County. 

 Roy Kothmann, will be sworn into serve as County Commissioner Precinct 3 shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day, 2025.
