Uvalde CISD school board meets for over 2 hour behind closed doors followed by a quick adjournment

Jessie Rizo: Based on who is on the board we don’t have the confidence that things will move in the right direction. It’s difficult to ask someone to resign.

No report was given following the Uvalde CISD Special School Board Meeting Monday night at the Benson Board Room.  The meeting was sparsely attended with perhaps a dozen people in the audience and several media outlets in attendance. According to a Twitter Post by Leigh Waldman with KSAT 12, Interim Superintendent Gary Patterson met with Nikki Cross and Evadulia Orta, the moms of Uziah and Rojelio before the meeting.
Jessie Rizo, the Uncle of Jackie Cazares, was the only person who spoke during the public comments portion of the meeting.

Jessie Rizo addresses the Uvalde CISD School Board
“Trust is one of the most sacred things we have. Based on who is on the board we don’t have the confidence that things will move in the right direction. It’s difficult to ask someone to resign. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to look at ourselves and make the right decision for the community,”  Rizo said.
