“Too little, too late” was what Diana Olvedo-Karau said after the Uvalde County Commissioners Court voted in a narrow decision to cease their appeals process after an appellate court’s verdict that the County must release public records pertaining to the Robb School Tragedy of 2022.
Two votes were in essence for the release of the County held public records,, with Commissioner John Yeackle voting, “Nay: and Commissioner Mariano Pargas casting an abstention vote.
Before the vote, Commissioner Ronald “Ronnie ” Garza spoke strongly in favor of releasing the public records.
Yeackle stated he would be voting “Nay” because of the victim’s family members he spoke to stating they did not want the records released.
Jesse Rizo, the uncle of Jackie Cazares, spoke in favor of the release of the public records citing several conversations from victims’ family members.
Rizo stated one individual asked how could could they trust him if they knew he was hiding something.
Karau, who spoke after the vote was cast, said Uvalde has a history of spending hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars fighting with lawyers.
