The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District’s board members voted unanimously to cast its 212 Uvalde County Appraisal District votes for Uvalde CISD Board President Luis Fernandez for the unexpired term held by Javier Flores prior to his removal through a recall vote process. Both Fernandez and Flores serve on the Uvalde CISD School Board.

By nominating and voting for Fernandez for the UCAD seat, the Uvalde CISD School Board by its votes, acted to maintain the District’s representative on the UCAD board giving the district a say on taxing decisions affecting county residents.

Following this action on another agenda item, the District voted to approve a slate consisting of three candidates for the UCAD seats up for election in the 2024 elections. Those named and approved as candidates for these seats by the district are J. Allen Carnes, Tony Moreno, and Danny Guzman.
