Uvalde, TX – The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is excited to reveal the official name of the new elementary school: Legacy Elementary. This announcement follows an eleven month thorough discussion and careful considerations by the Naming Committee.
As the Chair of the Naming Committee, Olivia Guerrero-Rish stated, “I am privileged to share the heartfelt and inclusive journey we have undertaken over the past year. Our committee has committed to a thoughtful process, ensuring that each name we consider resonates with our community’s spirit and honors those cherished individuals who have profoundly impacted our lives.
Our beloved angels, who continue to inspire us with their enduring presence, have been at the forefront of our thoughts and hearts throughout this endeavor. We have aspired to honor their memory by selecting names that reflect their legacy and the lasting influence they have had on us.
Throughout this past year, we have engaged in meaningful conversations, listened to various perspectives, and carefully assessed each suggestion to ensure our selections embody the values of unity, respect, and remembrance.”
The Naming Committee, consisting of numerous dedicated individuals, worked tirelessly to select a name that mirrors the spirit and values of our community. Their efforts guarantee that the new school will be a beacon of hope and learning for future generations.
