Businesses and volunteers buzzing with excitement about this weekend’s Uvalde Honey Festival

. Bee-lieive it, the Uvalde Honey Festival is returning this weekend at the Uvalde Downtown Plaza. Downtown business owners will be open late each evening for late night shopping according to Main Street Uvalde.
The free event will feature over 60 vendors, food, live music , a car show, a 5K run, corn hole tourment and many fun activities for all ages including a kid’s breakfast with the bees Saturday morning.
The Sahawe Indian Dancers will be performing at 10 AM Saturday followed by Ballet Folklorio at 11:30 AM Saturday morning.
Contestants will be competing in the Honey Queen Pageant for a $1000 scholarship.
Local business owners and their staff members in the downtown area have been busy as bees decorating their storefront windows competing in the Honeyfest Building Decorating Contest.
The Uvalde Honeyfest is being hosted by Main Street Uvalde. Downtown business owner and Honeyfest Organizer Lacie Huddleston said a big music stage will be set up on the Northwest Corner of the Plaza where a number of artists including a Friday night performance by Syphon. On Saturday, Donovan Amaya, Mariana Rowan, Will Rhodes will take the stage throughout the day with feature country artist William Beckmann from 7:30 – 9 p.m. Saturday night.
