UVALDE, TX — The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is bringing the excitement of pro rodeo back to
Uvalde this fall for the 2026 Rodeo Qualifier, ticketed rodeo performances on Friday and Saturday,
November 21–22, starting at just $20 per day. Spectators can expect high-energy performances, top-tier
talent, and a true celebration of Western tradition.
The Uvalde Qualifier is a rodeo, welcoming all permit or card-carrying members of the PRCA
(Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and WPRA (Women’s Professional Rodeo Association)
to compete for a coveted chance to advance to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
“This event gives both seasoned pros and up-and-coming athletes a true shot at the big stage in San
Antonio,” said Cody Tharp, Rodeo Officer. “Uvalde is where champions start their journey.”
This year’s competition brings an exciting addition — Breakaway Roping — now part of the Qualifier
lineup. Contestants will compete during the Qualifier Slack, with the top 20 in each event advancing to
the two main performances on Friday and Saturday nights. From there, the top 10 in each event will
earn a place to compete in San Antonio.
One of Texas’ own, Brandon Harrison, exemplifies what this event is all about. Harrison, a 2024 Uvalde
Qualifier competitor, went on to become the 2025 San Antonio Rodeo Steer Wrestling Champion,
earning a total of $19,979 to take home the Champion buckle. His success story is a powerful reminder
that the road to rodeo glory can start right here in Uvalde.
And don’t miss the chance for young rodeo fans to get in on the action with Mutton Bustin’, open to
children ages 4–7. With 20 total slots available between Friday and Saturday, each night’s winner will
earn the opportunity to ride at the Frost Bank Center during the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in
February. Parents can register participants online at sarodeo.com via the Rodeo Qualifier page.
