Ransomware attack forces Uvalde CISD to close Monday through Thursday

Uvalde CISD will be closed from September 15th to September 18th.

Press Release received from Uvalde CISD

09/13/25

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) is navigating a significant technology incident. Ransomware has been detected within our district’s servers, severely affecting access to several essential online systems. These include phones, some AC thermostats, the central camera monitoring location, visitor management systems, Skyward, and other critical online services. These systems are integral to maintaining the safety and security of our school community.

We have reported this incident to the FBI, our district’s insurance cybersecurity team, and other relevant agencies. A thorough investigation is underway, which includes a forensic analysis to determine how the malware was introduced and assess whether any sensitive information has been compromised. Completing these investigations is crucial before we can begin the recovery process.

Due to unexpected circumstances, we are making changes to the school calendar. Uvalde CISD will be closed from September 15th to September 18th. These days will be exchanged with previously scheduled non-working days integrated into the current calendar.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this situation has created for the Uvalde CISD students, staff, parents, and caregivers. We genuinely value your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve these challenges.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this period.
