At Monday’s, July 14th Uvalde County Commissioners Court Meeting, Diana Olvedo-Karau addressed commissioners on the draft budget and pointed out budgeted items that could be redirected in other areas or eliminated to save the tax-payers money.

Karau also stated the county allocated $1 million to fund a yearly county employee retirement plan benefitting approximately 50 employees.
Karau also criticized the county’s approval to borrow $10 million dollars as part of the proposed budget. She also pointed out Cost of Living increases budgeted at almost $500,000.

“The county has a plan that is beyond anything that I can imagine,” Karau said.

Karau has on a previous occasion stated the money the County provides to Uvalde Memorial Hospital is not necessary.
