Press Release from the Edwards Aquifer Authority
09-26-25
This Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9 a.m. – until supplies run out, the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA) is hosting their annual Rooted in Texas, free drive-thru plant pick-up event at their main office at 900 East Quincy Street, San Antonio, Texas 78215. What better way to kick off National Public Lands Day, than to begin with plans to beautify your own backyard or patio garden with the EAA’s free drought tolerant Texas native plants. 1,500 people will receive one Autumn Sage plant and one White-topped Sedge plant (per person), and a free EAA goodie bag, while supplies last.
The EAA encourages people to carpool with their friends and family, drive-thru the event, and receive their free items. In total, this year, the agency is set to hand out 3,000 Texas native plants and 3,000 goodies bags – all for free. The agency held their inaugural Rooted in Texas drive-thru plant pick-up in 2024 with great success, and plans to reach their goal this year by inspiring people to spruce up their yards with drought-tolerant, Texas native plants.
`The EAA is a groundwater conservation district that manages, enhances, and protects the Edwards Aquifer, a major groundwater system serving over two-and-one-half million South Central Texans. The EAA jurisdiction spans across 8 counties including Uvalde, Medina, Bexar, and parts of Atascosa, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Comal, and Hays counties.
