After calling recess on making a decision to review the Emergency Services District 3 petition brought before the Uvalde County Commissioners Court, the court met once again today, Monday, August 12th where the body voted to approve the petition which would, if approved by Uvalde County Voters, would create a new taxing entity which could levy 10 cents per 100 property value on property owners to pay for rural fire services in Knippa,, Sabinal and Reagan Wells.
News of this decision was announced on Diana Olvedo-Karau’s Facebook Page where Karau reported on the processing and the vote.
According to the new ballot measure, the City of Uvalde as well as Concan and Utopia would be excluded from the new taxing entity if approved by the voters.
Many of the most ardent supporters of the new ESD 3 initiative are members of the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department.
Members of the Knippa Volunteer Fire Department and the Concan Fire Department have been in discussions about working together under the Concan’s existing ESD.
