At the Thursday night’s El Progreso Memorial Library’s Next Generation Community Forum, Lucy Sandoval was recognized by the organization’s board of Directors for her 50 years anniversary with the library.

The poster honoring Sandoval reads: “Her dedication, vision, and unwavering service have shaped El Progreso Memorial Library into the beloved community treasure it is today.”

We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating El Progreso Memorial Library’s 20th anniversary in our current building on July 31st.

  This special occasion coincides with the finale of our Summer Reading Program, making it a day filled with joy and community spirit.
  In addition to these celebrations, we will also be kicking off our groundbreaking ceremony and Capital Campaign efforts. This significant milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for our beloved library, and we would be honored to have you join us as each one of you is a piece of our story!
  We are thrilled to share that Chair, Shelly Lowe,  and Chief of Staff, Kelsey Coates, from the National Endowment for the Humanities will be attending. Additionally, Eric Lupfer, Director of Humanities Texas, and several other special guests will be present.

Welcome reception Friday, January 5th to be held from from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M at El Progreso Memorial Library

El Progreso Memorial Library Board, chaired by Byron Capt, is hosting a Meet and Greet Reception for Tammie Sinclair and Mendell Morgan who will both be moving into new roles in the new year.
Mendell will begin serving as Director of Development to raise funds for the library and Tammie will step into her new role as Library Director to oversee operations and future plans for library programs and services.

They are both excited about their new responsibilities and working together for the advancement of the library in a community they both love and want to serve.

  Judge Christina Mitchell is hosting an important program on Fentylnol on Monday and Tuesday January 8th and 9th.
  Also happening in  Jnaurary  are the Smart and Art, club meetings, and the evening with Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rivera on the 18th.  This will lead to our Oral History project funded by the NEH grant so that will become an important new initiative in 2024
