The Uvalde Hesperian spoke with Berlinda Arreola, Grandmother of Amerie Jo Garza and she said the public is invited to a Candlelight Vigil on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at the Rotary Amphitheater beginning at 7:30 PM.

“Some Families will be meeting at 11:33 at ROBB for 77 minutes,” Arreola said.

 The Uvalde Hesperian visited the Robb Elementary School Memorial site about 12:30 PM today to check on the status of the crosses being repaired. A small sign reads, “The Crosses are being fixed and will be back soon.”

 The maker of the crosses picked up the crosses Saturday evening to pick them up to be restored before the 3rd year mark. 

 While visiting the memorial site the Hesperian encountered a couple who drove down to Uvalde from Concan to pay a visit to the memorial.

 Another retired news reporter was also there who now does freelance work.

  “A note to let you know that the memorial crosses currently placed at Robb Elementary School will be temporarily removed this Saturday by the individual who created them. He will refurbish the crosses overnight and plans to return and reinstall them on Sunday.
This effort is part of maintaining the dignity and appearance of the memorial as we approach the anniversary,” Uvalde Police Department Public Information Officer Juli R. Alvarado said.
  Jesse Rizo sent a message to the Uvalde Hesperian earlier this morning regarding the crosses:  Saturday at 8PM
