Press Release from Caswyn Moon and Faith Kelly

04-22-25

Faith Kelly & Caswyn Moon here! We’re two musicians hitting the road on a 6-week tour from the Catskill Mountains of New York. This is our 9th and biggest tour together celebrating the release of my 3rd album called “Halfway Decent,” coming out on April 1st. This is our first time ever in Uvalde and we’re stoked to visit the town and play at the Ruby’s Lounge.
More about us: We’re just a couple of wanderers who travel around America to share our songs to anyone, anywhere. When we’re not touring, we’re at home playing gigs and hosting open mics & events locally in the Catskills mountains of New York.
We’re two solo musicians who play original music. Caswyn usually starts off the night with his American rock music with old country undertones, then he steps away, and I play my spacey folk rock’n’roll with Appalachian Mountain twists. We also make daily YouTube vlogs showcasing local businesses and conversation about DIY tour life to hopefully inspire folks nationally, locally and regionally to follow their dreams.

In the  interview, Celebrating “FIFTY” with Bob Hartman of PETRA! , Hartman stated that the band recording its album,

Petra Founder Robert “Bob” Hartman

More Power to Ya, in a music studio located outside of Uvalde, Texas.

In the interview Hartman said the Band spent two weeks in a recording studio located outside of Uvalde, Texas.  According to Wikipedia, More Power to Ya is the fifth studio album of the Christian rock band, Petra. It was released in 1982.

Hartman said, “Starsong had their own studio in Houston. We were talking about recording there. A guy came into their studio one day and said, ‘I am brokering some recording equipment and want to know if  you guys are interested in buying some things. He told this story of this guy in West Texas outside of Uvalde, Texas that built this studio and failed for a number of reasons and he was selling off the equipment.  And they started asking, ‘What would it take to get that studio back up to where it could record?’ He told them what they would need. He said, ‘Can you find out how much they would charge us for maybe two weeks there?’

Hartman continued saying, “This studio was really unbelievable. it was really, literally in the middle of a desert. There were all kinds of wildlife around; herds of jackrabbits,  deer, snakes, there were centipedes and all kinds of things.”

“We spent two weeks recording and we had a lot of fun. It was very isolated,” Hartman said.

“Petra is an American music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres and was, for many years, regarded as the “world’s most popular Christian rock band”.[2] Formed in 1972, the band took its name from the Greek word for “rock”. Though it disbanded formally in 2006, incarnations have played reunion shows in the years since and released two albums in November 2010, and in November 2017. In 2013, it reformed with a new drummer, Cristian Borneo, and recorded a new song titled “Holy is Your Name”, before going back on tour,” according to Wikipedia.

(Editor’s Note) It is unclear where the recording studio was located near Uvalde.

The band is currently touring as part of Fiftieth Reunion Tour.

A full day of musical talent, vendors and more were on tap at Uvalde Memorial Park last Saturday as the Rotary Club of Uvalde hosts the 1st Uvalde Palooza festival at the Uvalde Memorial Park Amphitheater with culminating with a dance at the SSGT Willie DeLeon Civic Center featuring Ricardo Castillon y La Diferenzia.
According to Rotary Club President Roberta Walden, “The amphitheater was beautifully decorated with continuous streams of people dressed for summer.  The music was amazing, and the bands started and ended exactly on schedule. It was a relaxing , harmonious day. There were no complaints. Nobody even complained about the fact that the Civic Center parking lot was full and there was no place to park. There was a steady hum of people happily visiting with  one another, and there was constant entertainment from the six could-be headliner bands. The music provided by Morgan Ashley, Kay O’Neill,  Kathy Bauer (duet with seasoned musician-husband Michael Broussard), Syphon, Clarkson Band (replacement, Analiz Mireya y la Kand Ambiente Caliente was interesting and lovely.”
The outdoor entertainment was free and for the nighttime concert tickets were sold for the dance later that evening.
A special permit was granted to the Rotary Club of Uvalde by the Uvalde City Council to sell alcoholic beverages. Proceeds from the event from beer sales, tickets and vendor booth space will go toward the Rotary Club of Uvalde and its service projects.
