Many of you will remember when Spiderman of Denton came to Uvalde in July 2022, bringing over $13,000 in toys to give our children. This was our amazing Spiderman from Denton who came here with a huge team and turned the library into an incredible venue that Sunday with over 3,000 attending.

He brought the inflatables, face painters, balloon twisters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Wonder Woman, Superman and the Ghost Busters team along with people who gave away snow cones, ice cream and hot dogs – and, most importantly: HOPE.
It was the VERY BEST day we ever had at the library. And he came back two other times to be in our Christmas parade and for a special event at the Fairplex.
Now he is very ill and I’m asking you to join with me in doing what we can to help with our prayers for his recovery and financial assistance on this site:

El Progreso Memorial Library is excited to announce that it will soon operate from a temporary location at Benson Elementary School (601 Dean St, Uvalde, TX 78801) as the library prepares for its next chapter of growth and continued service to the community. Although the physical address for Benson Elementary maps to Dean Street, the library entrance will be located on Park Street, as shown on the attached map.

As preparations begin, the library will adjust its operations over the coming weeks.
Beginning Monday, March 16, the current library building will be closed to the public while staff prepare for the transition. During this time, the library will offer curbside assistance every Monday and Friday throughout the remainder of March for patrons who need help with materials or library services.
All other days in March will follow the library’s normal schedule.
The library will also observe a brief closure in April. In observance of Easter, the library will be closed April 3 and remain closed through April 13 as staff complete the move and prepare the temporary space.
A soft launch date for services at the new location will be announced soon, and the library looks forward to welcoming the community to its temporary home at Benson Elementary.
We express gratitude to the community for its continued support during this transition and look forward to continuing to provide programs, resources, and services while preparing for the future.
For updates on hours, services, and the upcoming reopening at the new location, follow El Progreso Memorial Library on social media or visit the library’s website.
