As of 11 AM the vote totals at the Ssgt Wille de Leon Civic Center were recorded at 37 votes. Candidate Jaclyn Gonzales and a few of her supporters were seem shortly before noon in the parking lot area next

to the Civic Center.

Another candidate, Jesse Rizo from who resides in Batesville was outside of the Bateville school polling location. When asked how the vote was going in Batesville, he said, “Pretty good running around getting them out.”

Voters can cast a vote for up to THREE candidates.

Correction: Uvalde CISD Trustee Robb Fowler is not running for re-election for his seat.   There is one at-large seat on the Uvalde CISD school board that will ultimately be won by a new school board candidate.

Three at-large Uvalde CISD Trustee positions are up for a vote this upcoming school board election on May 4th, 2024.

Early voting: April 22-April 30, 9 am – 6 pm Monday thru Friday

Early Voting Locations: SSGT Willie De Leon Civic Center and Batesville School.

Ballots by Mail: Applications for Ballots by Mail (ABBMs) must be received no later than the close of business on 04/23/34

Voters can cast a vote for up to THREE candidates.

Incombant candidates running for re-election include: 

Luis Fernandez (at-large) and  Cal Lambert (at-large) 

Candidates who running for the three at-large seats include the following:

Jaclyn Gonzales ;  Paul “Wayne” Moss Jr. ;   Erika Ayala Munos ;  Jesus “Jesse” Rizo and Roland Sanchez

“The Civic Center will be open for Uvalde County residents and Batesville
Elementary School will be open for Zavala County residents, both for Early

Crowd of supporters and media assemble in front of the Civic Center to hear Democratic Candidate for Governor Beto O’Rourke speak

A small crowd of about 50 people with news media as well as state and local political candidates came out to see Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke speak Wednesday Afternoon, November 2nd outside of the Ssgt. Willie de Leon Civic Center. Campaign coordinators handed out yard signs and T Shirts before and after O’Rourke spoke.

Several family members of the Robb 21 students and teachers including Irma Garcia’s sister, Velma Lisa Duran as well as Uziyah Garcia’s  Parents Brett and Nikki Cross and Alexander “Lexi” Rubio ‘s mother Kimberly Rubio were in attendance at O’Rourke’s campaign stop.

Texas Senator Roland Gutierrez was seen speaking to several O’Rourke supporters as well as Democratic Candidate John Lira who is running for the US Congressional District 23 seat against Republican Tony Gonzales.

O’Rourke was accompanied by his wife Amy O’Rourke.

Following the campaign stop which lasted for about 30 minutes, Beto O’Rourke stated he was planning on attending the Dios de Las Muertas event on the Uvalde Downtown Plaza.

Two Knippa ISD seats are up for a vote.

Two KISD school board seats are up for a vote for this election. The KISD school board election is included with the general November 8th election ballot.

Early voting began on Oct 24 and runs through Nov 4, 2022.  Nov 8th is Election Day.

Candidates running for the KISD Trustee position, Place 2 include Nyland Falkenberg and Sindy E. Ortiz.

Ted Sanderlin is listed by the district’s website as the school board president and is running for the Place 3 school board position. Justin K. Lands is on the ballot also running for this position.

 

Rebekah James who is currently on the school board has stated she is not running for reelection.

Sindy E. Ortiz works at Sul Ross University Rio Grande College, Office of Information Technology\Technical Support Specialist II.

Ortiz submitted this statement to the Uvalde Hesperian: “Hello Knippa Residents, I am Sindy E. Ortiz and proudly announce that I am on the ballot for Position 2, Knippa I.S.D

 School Board. These past few months, I’ve seen a shift in our Knippa community with many becoming unified and eager for a change.   Ted Sanderlin is a longtime resident of Knippa and works as a pharmacist in Uvalde. Sanderlin has served on the Knippa ISD school board for many years.

Sunday after 12 noon was the time candidates could start putting up signs outside of the Ssgt. Wille de Leon Civic Center before early voting today, Monday, October 24th.

Sunday afternoon, candidates and supporters could be seen posting numerous signs both large and small around the outside of the Civic Center where people would be early voting.

Early voting began this morning and the main parking lot to the Civic Center was full.  This year’s election features several write-in candidates. The three write- candidates vying for the County Commissioner Precinct 1 seat are Dianna Olvedo-Karau, Julio Valdez and Javier Cazares.  Mariano Pargas currently holds the seat and is running for reelection.  Tina Ann Quintanilla Taylor is running for the Justice of the Peace Precincts 1.5 and 12. Steven T. Kennedy is the incumbent candidate running for reelection.

According to the Uvalde County Elections office information posted on its Facebook page: ” All voters will need to present a government issued photo ID or complete an Reasonable Impediment Declaration and have a supplemental form of identification in order to vote.”
