If you and your family are looking for something to do this Independence Day weekend, there will be family friendly events such as Friday night stargazing, live music, Family Quest, golf and nightly dances at Garner State Park.

If you’d like to avoid the sounds of loud fireworks, Concan might be the destination you are looking for! There is also the chance to cool off in the Frio River at the Concan Swimming Hole or take a float trip down the Frio. Andy’s on River Road, Neals Lodges, Josh’s Frio River Outfitter and Happy Hollow are outfitters that provide tube rentals and shuttle services to the various river crossings.

The Uvalde Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Southwest Regional Area Transit or SWART to provide daily shuttle services between Uvalde and Concan.

Visit Texas Hill Country River Region for a complete listing of all the activities or visit their the Visit Uvalde County Facebook Page.

Traffic on State Highway 127  and Highway 83 North has returned with RVers, motorcyclists along with cars and trucks packed with tubes and river gear headed to Concan and the Frio River area. College students could be seen at Seven Bluff Crossing on River Road Thursday afternoon playing beer pong or just relaxing in the Frio River.  Wednesday’s colder temperatures and overcast skies gave way to sunny skies and temperatures in the 80’s on Thursday afternoon.

The Randy Rogers Band took the stage at House Pasture performing before hundreds of people kicking off the first of a three day concert series. Artists will also be taking to stages around the area including Joe Jimmy’s , Hippy Chicks both in Concan and Hangar Six in Uvalde.

At approximately 11:00 PM, a one vehicle accident was seen on River Road  in Concan at the Frio Country River Crossing with Uvalde County Sheriff’s officers and the Concan Fire Department on the scene.
