Vehicles filled the parking lot of the Honey Bowl Stadium and were parked along the sides of nearby streets for blocks around the location as many came out to attend the 2022 Uvalde High School Graduation Ceremonies on Friday June 24th, 2022. 

  The ceremonies were held a month after the Robb School Massacre which occurred on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 which was also the original planned date of the ceremonies. 

   This year’s event was designated as a private event by Uvalde CISD officials and limited only to the family and friends of the graduating class. 

    Yet, many others showed up and observed through the fences outside of the Honey Bowl to catch glimpses of the ceremonies. 

  Uvalde CISD did allow KVOU 104.9 to broadcast the audio from the ceremony and the district also live streamed the event online. 

  A couple of days prior to this year’s Uvalde High School graduation ceremonies an email was sent to news and media outlets by Uvalde CISD Executive Director of Communications and Marketing stating the following: 

“Uvalde CISD will host Graduation for the Class of 2022 on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at Honey Bowl Stadium. 

 For visiting media unfamiliar with Uvalde CISD’s annual graduation procedures, please see the notes below:

• The graduation ceremony is a private event with attendance limited to family and friends of the graduating class.
• There will be no media access to Honey Bowl Stadium for the graduation ceremony.
• The graduation ceremony will be broadcast live on KVOU Radio Station 104.9 with a livestream available on the Uvalde CISD website.

  As a district, we understand that grief is different for everyone and we are focused on providing care and support for all of our students, families, and staff as they take the time to process and begin to heal. Participation in the graduation ceremony is optional to allow students and staff to make the individual decisions that are best for them during this difficult time.

  We appreciate your cooperation in helping us allow our students, staff, and families the space to honor the achievements of the Class of 2022.”

Lopez, Jr. as No. 3 with a GPA of 105.735; the No. 4 Graduate is Julieanne G. Martinez* with a GPA of 105.353 and plans to attend The University of Texas at San Antonio; the No. 5 Graduate is Lynd Danielle C. Diongzon* with a GPA of 105.324 and plans to attend Southwest Texas Junior College to join the Registered Nursing Program; the No. 6 Graduate is Claudio J. Sandoval* with a GPA of 105.270 and plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin; the No. 7 Graduate is Briana A. Mata with a GPA of 105.171 and plans to attend Our Lady of the Lake University; the No. 8 Graduate is Cruz D. Gonzales with a GPA of 104.848 and plans to attend Texas A&M University College Station; the No. 9 Graduate is Alice M. Chum* with a GPA of 104.257 and plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin; and the 10th ranked Graduate is Francisco R. Marines, IV* with a GPA of 103.882 and plans on attending The University of Texas at San Antonio. The 2022 Graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 7 P.M. at the Uvalde CISD Honey Bowl Stadium.
