The Uvalde City Council considered an approved an agenda item for a general wage increase and possible supplemental COVID Pay.
City Manager Vince DiPiazza proposed a $2,500 net or 5% additional pay increase.
“The cost of doing business is continuing to go up.” Mayor Don McLaughlin said.
City Manager Vince DiPiazza stated, “We are in a good enough shape to absorb the increase.”
Mayor Mclaughlin also said, “We want to send a message to our people we’re going to take care of them.”
Mayor McLaughlin went on to joke, “We (the city) can always absorb Highway 83 and Highway 90 and create a toll road.”
