Uvalde, TX — The Uvalde Police Department (UPD) has made significant strides in a recent
investigation involving a vehicle burglary and a subsequent shooting incident, thanks to
rapid response, interagency collaboration, and crucial assistance from the community.
Last week, UPD received a report of a vehicle burglary within city limits, during which a
firearm was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Prompt action by the Patrol Division led to
the identification of a potential suspect.
Within 24 hours, a separate shooting incident occurred. Through continued investigation
and community cooperation, UPD detectives identified and apprehended two individuals
connected to both the burglary and the shooting within 16 hours. Further investigation led
to the arrest of two additional suspects involved in the shooting.
This successful operation was supported by the Texas Department of Public Safety
Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office
Explosives Canine Unit.
“This was a seamless, collaborative effort that brought swift justice to our community,”
said UPD CID Lieutenant Chris Hill. “We are especially grateful to the residents of Uvalde—
two of the suspects were apprehended directly due to timely and valuable information
provided by local citizens.”
Chief Homer Delgado added, “I’m incredibly proud of our team for their diligent work in
ensuring suspects involved in this incident were swiftly arrested and firearms were
recovered. Thanks again go out to all of the agencies involved in this case—together we
