Governor’s Business Summit brings together area resources and speakers addressing small business issues

The 2025 Governor’s Small Business Summit was held on Thursday, March 27th at the Ssgt. Willie de Leon Civic Center and was attended by approximately 40 people.

The Summit featured panels of business professionals, resource and service providers who spoke on three panels on topics including, Getting Started Business 101; Financing and Future: Accessing Funding for Growing a Business, Building Your Business: Target Marketing and Social Media Techniques and a Fireside Chat: Trials and Triumphs of Entrepreneurship.

According to information provided by the Texas Office of Development and Tourism Office website, it states: The Governor’s Small Business Summit — Uvalde aims to help Texas small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs reach new heights by connecting them with the resources and information needed to start, strengthen and grow a business.

The Uvalde Business Summit was the first of 15 scheduled summits scheduled at different cities throughout the state.

Martin Mojica of DPS Services spoke from the audience during the Getting Started Business 101 spoke from the audience at a microphone stating it’s critical for business owners to focus on revenue and not to spend $1.10 to make $1.00 stating to account for all expenses.

Uvalde’s Derrick Rodriguez, owner of Ventura Boutique Haus of Uvalde who was one of the panelists, stated it is important to know your product and to know your business,
