Campus Guardian Angel Unveils Innovative School Safety Service During SXSW Festival

Press Release from Campus Guardian Angel

03-08-25

March 8, 2025

AUSTIN, TX – Today, Campus Guardian Angel – an innovative new school safety service that uses drone technology to protect students in the event of an active shooter situation – officially launched during the 2025 SXSW festival.

In active shooter situations, every second counts, so accelerating a law enforcement response saves lives. Campus Guardian Angel provides an additional layer of defense in the most critical early moments of an active shooter situation. By prepositioning the defensive capabilities of drones armed with threat mitigation technology throughout our schools, Campus Guardian Angel can respond to threats to students within seconds.

Justin Marston, CEO and Founder of Campus Guardian Angel, commented:

“Campus Guardian Angel brings the expertise of elite special forces operators and highly trained law enforcement personnel to an immediate response in every school in Texas and across the nation. Our innovative approach grants first responders the most valuable resource they need when responding to an emergency: time.”

According to, Bill King, a 32-year Navy Seal veteran and Campus Guardian Angel’s Chief Tactical Officer and Co-founder:

“The unique advantage of our service is that we are focused on confronting and incapacitating a shooter as quickly as possible to minimize the loss of life. We look forward to working with law enforcement officials, school districts, parents, teachers, and students to implement this service that will keep schools safe and protect lives.”

Campus Guardian Angel enhances schools’ safety posture by:

  • Slowing and degrading assailants who wish to do harm to students
  • Acting as a force multiplier for law enforcement by giving they have a better picture of what’s happening in real-time
  • Prepositioning the expertise of law enforcement across campus as opposed to the physical limitations of campus resource officers only being in one place at a time
  • Acting as a first line of defense during the critical first few minutes of an emergency
