Uvalde CISD Board hires Dr. Josie Hernandez-Gutierrez as Interim Chief of Strategy for the Upcoming Spring Semester

  (The Uvalde CISD Board of Trustees approved the) inclusion of a temporary staff member to assist the district.  Dr. Josie Gutierrez is the Interim Chief of Strategy for Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) for the upcoming spring semester. With nearly thirty years of robust experience in educational leadership, Dr. Hernandez-Gutierrez is an exemplary addition to our district’s leadership team.

  Dr. Gutierrez has an impressive academic background. She earned her doctorate and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas and an undergraduate degree in education from Texas Christian University. Her credentials are further bolstered by certifications as a principal and superintendent, which underscore her comprehensive expertise in educational administration.

  Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Gutierrez has held significant roles, including Deputy Superintendent in Waco ISD, Chief of Schools Officer in Spring ISD, Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership in Dallas ISD, and District Steward and Director of School Leadership in Fort Worth ISD. Her national consulting work includes involvement with prestigious initiatives such as the University of Virginia Partnership for Leadership in Education Program and the Woodrow Wilson MBA Fellowship in Education Leadership.

  Dr. Gutierrez’s adept insights, particularly in human resources, will be crucial as UCISD navigates its budget reduction process. Her strategic guidance, training prowess, and collaborative approach are expected to drive forward our mission to address challenges and produce meaningful educational outcomes for our students.
