The Uvalde County Sheriff’s Department, Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department as well as other first responders spent over an hour attending to a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 90 West close to the Nueces River Bridge Wednesday at 6:45 PM, January 1st, 2025, Authorities spent nearly 2 hours attending to the scene shutting down traffic.
The Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department reported the following on its Facebook Page: At 6:45 PM on New Year’s Day, the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department responded to a three-vehicle accident on US Highway 90, located approximately six miles west of Uvalde. The incident involved two cars and a jeep. One driver was trapped inside their vehicle and had to be rescued by firefighters. At least two individuals were transported to the hospital by Uvalde EMS. As crews worked to clear the scene, all westbound traffic was halted for 90 minutes.
At least 3 vehicles were involved in the collision. At one point, an official report on Facebook by an official indicated as many as 6 vehicles may have been involved. Ambulances as well as several wreckers were dispatched to the scene. Word at the location was there were no fatalities although an official report has not confirmed that information or the status of the victims involved
Just prior to westbound lanes on Highway 90 West were reopened, traffic appeared to be backed up for about a mile or more.
