Christmas night “walk-by shooting” shakes up area near Boone and Shook Streets

A resident near the area of Boone and Shook Streets informed the Uvalde Hesperian he/she heard several gunshots in quick succession rang out on Boone Street near the intersection of Shook Street Christmas evening. According to the source, the gunfire may have come from a group of young adults in their early 20’s on foot. A heavy police presence lit up the street and remained for several hours following the incident. The shots may have been aimed a house.

Motive for the shooting is not known at this time.

Uvalde County Constable Emmanuel Zamora posted the following on his official Facebook Page last night.

**Christmas Day Shooting** 10:45 pm
Large presence of law enforcement near Boone St. and Shook St. due to a report of a shooting. No reported injuries at this time, but the scene and a perimeter has been secured as an Active Crime Scene. Uvalde Police Department is leading the investigation. Please avoid the area.

FINAL UPDATE: Scene is clear at 12:46 AM. Case remains an active investigation by UPD.

A video circulating on Facebook shows numerous police cars parked along Boone Street with emergency lights flashing following the incident.

The Uvalde Hesperian has reached out to the Uvalde Police Department but is still awaiting a reply regarding additional information on the incident.
