Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department announces quarterly siren test on Monday, December 9th

Press Release from Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mario Rangel

12-5-24

A test is set to occur during business hours on Monday, December 9, weather permitting. Technicians will evaluate audio and radio communication at various siren locations, including Uvalde Industrial Park, Water Treatment Center, Jardin de los Heroes Park, 1700 N Camp St., and the downtown fire department. Please be aware that this is a quarterly test, distinct from our monthly test, which takes place every third Monday of the month at 6 PM, also weather permitting.

These routine tests are crucial to ensure that our emergency alert systems are fully functional and can effectively warn the public in the event of a real emergency. Residents may hear a series of loud siren sounds lasting several minutes.

Please remain calm; this is just a test. If you have pets or small children, it might be wise to bring them indoors during the test to minimize any distress from the noise.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to keep our community safe. Chief Rangel
