Fall temperatures arrived this week as the orange and red colors have begun to appear in Uvalde, Uvalde County and also at Lost Maples State Natural Area just north of Utopia.

The following was posted on the Lost Maples State Natural Area Facebook Page on Thursday, November 21st: With the cold front early this week, the trees have begun their color change finally! We should hit peak color for this year around Thanksgiving.

Timing one’s visit to glimpse the Maple trees at their colorful peak can be challenging as winds and rain can blow the leaves off the trees during the fall.

Camping and Day Passes to Lost Maples State Natural Area can be made online at the following website: Lost Maples State Natural Area

Note:  Fall is peak season for Lost Maples State Natural Area and advanced reservations are required as the park reaches maximum capacity often.
