Knippa hosts its first high school football game in 49 years: Rockcrusher football is back.

Knippa ISD hosted its first home football game Saturday night where the Knippa 6-Main Football team competed against the San Antonio Jubilee Lions.

The game was attended by a few hundred people that cheered on the school’s brand new football team led by a cheerleading squad. The Final score of the game was Lions 46- Knippa 12.

Despite the loss, the crowd showed signs of excitement throughout the game.

Simon Ortiz and Robert Miguel provided a play by play broadcast of the game from the press box. UvaldeRadio.net posted the following on its Facebook Page:

“Final score Lions 46 Knippa 12. What a privilege to pioneer the first broadcast of Rockcrushers football in nearly 50 years. Heartfelt thanks to Cesar for facilitating our broadcast and Crystal Alejandro-Realtor at Encina Properties for her generous sponsorship. Truly an exhilarating experience to be part of local history in the making.”
