UVALDE, TEXAS

Southwest Texas College (SWTX) and the Mexican Consulate in Eagle Pass, Texas, today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to increase educational access for Mexican nationals and persons of Mexican origin residing in the United States. The partnership aims to provide financial support for students pursuing middle or higher education through the IME Becas program.

Through this collaboration, SWTX and the Mexican Consulate will jointly contribute $13,000 USD to support eligible students with tuition, fees, and course materials. The program will focus on high school, technical education, undergraduate, and graduate programs, both in-person and online.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Mexican Consulate to offer this incredible opportunity to our students,” said Dr. Hector Gonzales, President of SWTX. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to providing accessible and affordable education to all members of our community.”

The IME Becas program, funded by the Mexican government, offers financial assistance to eligible students. To qualify, individuals must be Mexican nationals or of Mexican origin residing in the United States.
