Media Release from the Uvalde Police Department
Uvalde, TX – August 5, 2024 – Last week, the Uvalde Police Department was honored to host representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ) Community Oriented Policing Services (COPs) office, along with consultants from Jensen Hughes, as part of an ongoing effort to rebuild our department and enhance community relations through the Guardian Initiative.
During their visit, the DOJ COPs office and Jensen Hughes team conducted a comprehensive needs assessment aimed at identifying areas for technical assistance to support the Uvalde Police Department’s development. The representatives engaged in thorough evaluations and assessments of our current policies and personnel.
In addition to their internal assessments, the team met with various community leaders to gather valuable insights and feedback on community expectations and aspirations for our police department. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in fostering stronger, more effective communication and partnership between the Uvalde Police Department and the community we serve.
