Uvalde CISD announces applications being accepted for the West Zone School Board Member seat

Press release from Uvalde CISD

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) is announcing an available School Board Member seat for the West Zone to complete an unexpired term until May 2026. We invite all interested stakeholders who reside in the West Zone of Uvalde to apply for this critical position. To ensure consistency in the information submitted, we request that all applicants complete the Texas Secretary of State Form 2-49 application for a place on the ballot for a general election for a city, school district, or other political subdivision, even though a Special Election will not be held.

Interested stakeholders may access the 2-49 application in several convenient ways. You may download a copy from the Texas Secretary of State or the UCISD School Board website. Alternatively, paper copies are available for pick-up at the UCISD Central Office at 1000 N. Getty Street during our Summer Hours: Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The application method is consistent with the traditional School Board Election process, and we encourage all eligible stakeholders to apply.

The application window is from Tuesday, June 18th, until Thursday, June 27th, at 5:00 p.m. The UCISD School Board of Trustees will review all fully completed applications. Upon reviewing the qualifications for residing in the West Zone, applicants will be contacted for a Candidate Interview on Monday, July 8th.

Stakeholders are invited to submit questions that will be considered for the West Zone candidate’s July 8th public interview.

The voting of the accepted candidates to fill the West Zone seat will occur at the July Special School Board Meeting on Monday, July 8th.

For more information regarding the application process or the available School Board Member seat, please contact Mikka Sanchez at the UCISD Central Office at 830-278-6655.
