J. Anson Bill’s son, Adam, is a special needs student who will start the 2024-2025 school year as a 6th grader at Morales Junior High.  Adam special needs are a result of him having Treacher Collins Syndrome and is o the Autism Spectrum. Adam was also board with Hydrocephalus. “Adam is a very unique case that covers a lot of disabilities in our area,” Bills said.

Bills spoke during public comments at last week’s Tuesday, June 11th City Council meeting and also addressed Monday night’s, June 18th school board meeting requesting a special sign that says, “Deaf Child Area or an alternate sign which reads “Slow: Deaf Child Area”

At last week’s City Council meeting, Bills said, “I’ve gone to the City and the years past and asked for a sign for my son.

About four years ago I quit doing that, and I started putting up my own signs in front of our house.

Well, my wife here has found out that the state pays for those signs, and you’ll are still not putting those signs up. He’s not the only kid in this community. We’re asking for kids like our son, throughout our community to have the proper signage. Will you all do something about that,” Bills asked.

The City Council agreed they would put up the sign.

Bills also spoke at Monday night’s June 17th school board meeting where he said,

“l’d like for you to get with the Special Educations Department, so the Special Education Department can get with the parents so that children like my son Adam, who’s deaf, has a sign out on his street.

If we get the Special Rducations Department and the parents working together with the City to get proper signage out, that’s one of the concerns.

School Bus Stop Signs and Lighting

” The second concern I have for lighting around the bus stops and no signage for school bus stops. We all work together to get this problem resolved. That actually takes care of a lot of problems, especially since I live in, between Evans and Farrar, which are very dangerous roads due to reckless drivers.” Bills said.

J. Anson Bill and his wife Jennifer are planning on sending their three children to Uvalde CISD schools this upcoming school year.

Update:

Uvalde City Councilman Hector R. Luevano stopped by the Bill’s residence and spoke with J. Anson and Jennifer to discuss plans on putting up their sign. The Bills were also contacted by Uvalde CISD Board President Cal Lambert offering his support.
