DEL RIO – THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY (DPS is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash involving a commercial motor vehicle that occurred on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 1:06 a.m., on US 83 Mile Marker 654 near Catarina, TX in Dimmit County.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2018 white Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling southbound on US 83 approaching a curve. The Freightliner lost control and overturned coming to rest upside down in a ditch.
Due to injuries sustained the driver of the Freightliner, Jose A. Lugo, 30, from El Paso TX, was pronounced deceased at the scene. DPS Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
