The future is referred to as The Undiscovered Country in the Star Trek film bearing the same name:Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country.
The first day of the new year is like reaching the summit of a mountain where the future months and days are seen covered like a morning fog that slowly burns away as the sun rises on each day.
While the beginning of the New Year is an customary time to review the past year, it is also a good year to review the events that we are aware will be coming and other events and developments which might or might not happen.
The Texas Primary Elections
The Texas Primary Elections are going to arrive quickly with Early Voting beginning on Tuesday, February 20th and the last day will be on Friday, March 1st, 2023. Election Day for the Democratic and Republican Primaries will be Tuesday, March 5th, 2023.
That does not give candidates much time to get their campaign signs and messages out.
A few local candidates have switched parties and are running on as Republican ballot meaning the Uvalde County Sheriff’s race and Uvalde County Commissioners Court Precinct 1 race may be decided at the Primary Elections, on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024,
The Total Solar Eclipse of 2024
OnMonday, April 8th, 2024 Uvade and Uvalde County residents will once again get to wear those funny looking solar eclipse glasses and look up to see the sun being completely covered by the moon. In the days leading up to the event, the town and area will likely be visited by tens of thousands of eclipse chases wanting to be in totality’s path.
World Gliding Championship returns to Uvalde
The 30th FAI World Gliding Championship returns to Uvalde in August 2024. The event last occurred in the summer of 2012 meaning for a couple of weeks gliders and pilots from all over the world will be descending on Uvalde to ride the thermals hoping to get a win.
2024 Presidential Election
On the evening of Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 the citizens of the United States and the world will watch the election returns come in to see who will be the next President of the United States. Many other Texas races and local races will also be on the ballot for this big election.
The Uncertainties
Will the 38th D.A Christina Mitchell release Robb School Information?
Will anything happen at the Robb School Campus?
Will any action be taken on a permanent Robb School Memorial?
Will anything change at the U.S,/Mexico Border?
Mixed in with the aforementioned items, will there likely be many events and occurrences that will seem to come from out of nowhere and there may be a Black Swan event that could take over the news.
I have faith Uvalde’s best years are ahead.
