The Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire at the Behland Circle Trailer Park Approximately 8:30 AM Wednesday December 20th. No one was home when the fire started,

According to information obtained from the Uvalde Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page, a space heater was the cause of the fire that caused fire and smoke damage to a bedroom of the structure.

The Uvalde Hesperian visited the site on Thursday morning and spoke to Alex, a boyfriend of Patty Gonzales, who said they need food for the children.

Maria Hernandez set up a Go Fund Me account for the family. It says: “My name is Maria Hernandez and this morning my niece’s home burnt . She is now without anything Including a home. We are trying to help her out get everything again. Please even if it’s just sharing the post anything helps my family in this time of need.”

A relative of Gonzales posted the following on her Facebook page,”WE ARE IN SEARCH OF CLOTHES TO DONATE TO MY NIECE AND HER KIDS THEIR HOUSE JUST BURNED DOWN THIS MORNING NOT LONG AGO. SIZE WOMANS XL SHIRTS PANTS 16/20 AND MEN CLOTHES SIZE LARGE FOR HER SON AND 32/34 IN PANTS , AND SIZE 8 IN BOYS SHIRTS N PANTS . PLS GET WITH ME . ANYTHING HELPS.”

In a followup post by the relative, it reads: “Does anyone have any spare boards to board up the house we can pick up it’s just the ones that we have they were soaked down really really bad when firefighters were there and they are not usable.”

According to Alex (last name not known) the mobile home was not insured.

In addition to the Go Fund Me account, donations can be made to Gonzales’ Cash App:  PattyYO89
