At the Tuesday, November 28th Uvalde City Council meeting, a plaque of recognition was presented to the family of former Uvalde Police Officer Zenaida “Sandy” Cyprian by Mayor Cody Smith and Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez.
According to a City of Uvalde Facebook Post, Cyprian was the first Latina police officer hired by the Uvalde Police Department:
“Tonight at our city council meeting, Chief Rodriguez read a note of appreciation and adoration for Former City of Uvalde Policewoman, Zenaida “Sandy” Cyprian. Along with Mayor Smith, Chief Rodriguez presented Officer Cyprian’s daughters a plaque and a momento from the Uvalde Police Department. Cyprian held various positions with the city in her 27 years of service. She holds the honor of being Uvalde’s first Latina police officer,”
Cyprian’s family members attended the City Council meeting and were presented with a plaque of recognition for her years of service.
According to her obituary, Cyprian, 81 years old, passed away on November 1st, 2023.
