Hope Smith, a 15 year old homeschool student, has taken on an ambitious project as this year’s coordinator for TX1360 – Uvalde County 4-H Council’s Wreaths Across America.

The following information is from the TX1360 – Uvalde County 4-H Council’s webpage and from Heather Smith’s mom, Heather Smith.

“On December 16, 2023 at 10:00 am (Wreath Placement Immediately Following Ceremony), TX1360 – Uvalde County 4-H Council will be helping Hillcrest Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans by laying Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes.

Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day, or inviting your family and friends to attend with you.

We have set a goal to cover 650 veterans’ graves at our cemetery in Uvalde.  As of today, we have 220 of the 650 wreaths needed.  As the November 27th deadline nears, we are in desperate need to get the word out about this project.
Wreaths can be purchased 1 for $17 or when 2 are purchased for $34, WWA will send us 1 extra helping us reach our goal quicker. Also, here is the direct link as an alternative to scanning the QR code: https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX1360
On December 16th at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery we will have a ceremony and wreaths will be placed directly following.  We invite volunteers of all ages.  Any questions please contact me at (361)215-4502.”
