Driver was ejected from vehicle in a roll over crash occuring on FM 140 in Uvalde County

DEL RIO – THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY (DPS) is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on October 03, 2023, at approximately 2:55 p.m., on FM 140 approximately 12 miles south of Uvalde in Uvalde County.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Dodge Caliber sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound on FM 140. The Dodge was approaching a left curve in the roadway and failed to drive a single lane. The Dodge SUV traveled partially off the roadway and then overcorrected back onto the roadway. The Dodge traveled across the northbound and southbound lane into the southbound roadside.
The driver took faulty evasive action back to the right and entered into a side skid. Driver then skidded across the southbound lane and rolled over to the left side several times. The Dodge came to rest off the roadway facing northbound. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Due to injuries sustained the driver of the Dodge SUV, Javier Santos Jr, 29 from Uvalde Texas was pronounced deceased on scene. DPS Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
