Uvalde CISD board appears to be considering vote to oppose UCAD recall of Javier Flores

2023-2024 Tax Rate and District’s budget up for consideration and approval along with compensation plan, superintendent search and UCAD board member dismissal

The Uvalde CISD school board will be meeting this evening at the Benson Board Room, Monday, August 28th, 2028 starting at 5:45 PM. The board will convene two separate meetings which will be held consecutively. 

A live stream of the meeting can be viewed on the District’s YouTube Channel.

The first meeting  is slated to start at 5:45 PM starting with public comments and then go on to the agenda item of the first meeting: 

“3. Items of Division of Business and Finance: A. Item of Information for Public Hearing to Present Proposed District Budget & an Ordinance Adopting Tax Rate for School Year 2023-2024”

Following the first meeting, a second regular board meeting will convene.  Some notable agenda items of the second meeting include: 

  Consider approval of the Resolution regarding a No Recall for UCAD Board Member and Consider approval of 2023-2024 Compensation Plan.

   The school board plans to hold a private, closed-door, executive session near the end of the second board meeting. Following the executive session meeting, the board will consider and act on the following agenda items: 

  1. Consider and take possible action regarding the superintendent search process and time line.
    B. Consider and take possible action concerning approval of personnel employments, assignments, suspensions, and terminations.

 

It appears that the Uvalde CISD school board is taking the position per wording of tonight’s agenda not to support the recall of Javier Flores.

  It appears that the Uvalde CISD school board is taking the position per wording of tonight’s agenda not to support the recall of Javier Flores.  Javier Flores serves as an elected Uvalde CISD school board member. 

The Uvalde Hesperian had reached to the district for clarification on the No Recall for UCAD board member agenda item. It is not known if Javier Flores will recuse himself from this vote.
