Intoxicated driver seen racing with another vehicle causes Saturday night crash on Highway 83 near Concan

Two vehicles appearing to be racing on US Highway 83 North of CR 350 near Concan crash just before midnight on Saturday, July 15th.

  The driver of a White 2004 Chevrolet Silverado  Kadarius Lakeith Price, 17 yrs old – Yoakum was transported to Uvalde Memorial Hospital by Uvalde EMS with non-incapacitating Injuries; Intoxication Assault charge to be filed. The front passenger of the vehicle, Jared Ryan Kahanek, 18 yrs old – Yoakum was transported to San Antonio Medical Center by Utopia EMS with Incapacitating Injuries, The two back passengers of the vehicle Connor James Kahanek, 18yrs old and McNary, Terequan, 17 yrs old, of Yoakum, were not injured. The 2nd vehicle, a black truck driven by an unidentified driver,  drove away from the scene. 

   According to a witness, traveling behind unit 3, Units 1 and 2 were racing behind them. Unit 3 attempted to turn left into a private dr. Unit 1 took evasive action to the left. Unit 2 took evasive action to the right. The front right quarter panel of unit 1 collided with the front left of unit 2. Unit 1 spun clockwise, over-corrected right, and spun into the west barrow ditch.

   The back of unit 1 collided with trees. Unit 2 did not collide with any vehicles and left the scene. Unit 1 driver was determined to be intoxicated. Toxicology pending.”

   The incident was witnessed by the driver and a passenger of a third vehicle: a White 2023 Chevrolet Suburban TX.
