OPERA San Antonio presents Explore Opera For Kids! – a concert series bringing family-friendly opera to libraries throughout the month of June.
Due to its wildly successful launch last summer, OPERA San Antonio is proud to continue the South Texas Tour which expands our free community concerts to our neighbors in Uvalde and Laredo. One performance will take place at the El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde, which will be open to the public. During each performance, characters from operatic masterpieces share their stories through the power of music.
These interactive presentations feature the Summer Voice Program Apprentice Artists singing highlights from OSA’s upcoming season. These concerts are specifically designed to give children and families an opportunity to learn more about the musical art form of opera. The South Texas Tour is made possible by the generous sponsorship of H-E-B Helping Here.
In the summer of 2022, for the first time in OSA history, we hit the road to expand our reach to our neighbors in Laredo and Uvalde in a two-day outreach concert tour we now lovingly call the South Texas Tour.
This summer we will start at the El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde then travel to Laredo for an outreach visit at the Boys and Girls Club followed by a free public concert at the beautiful San Agustín Cathedral.
