Martinez officially banned from by Uvalde CISD by Interim Superintendent Patterson

Conversation between Adam Martinez and Josh Gutierrez at Monday Night’s school board meeting results in Martinez ejected from the meeting and issued a official notice of trespass by district

As the Uvalde CISD school board met on Monday, February 13th on the eve of Valentine’s Day, Adam Martinez a parent of a child a attending Uvalde CISD school approached Josh Gutierrez, the district’s Interim Safety and Executive Director and Police Chief and presented information about new hire officer Pedro Huizar for the district.

According to a post the Facebook group K.A.R.M.A with a video of the interaction, it states, “Adam Martinez showing the Chief of UCISD police the email where sheriff Nolasco says that new school police officer Pedro Huizar is not rehire-able. You can see where the chief becomes uncomfortable. Right after this he tells Adam that he has to leave and is banned from school areas. Little harsh for just asking a simple question. Is this another form of wanting to silence those who stand up?

On the agenda at that same meeting, two new Uvalde CISD Police Officers were presented to the school board as new hires by the district.

Pedro Huizar and Melissa Castenada. Huizar was previously employed by the Sabinal Police Department and Castinada had been an officer in the town of Killeen in Central Texas near Fort Hood, the U.S. Army Post, the largest military post in the United States.

After the School board meeting, Martinez received an official letter from Interim Superintendent Patterson officially banning Martinez from stepping on to the district’s property or attending future school board meetings.  See letter below.

The Uvalde Hesperian was at the meeting and while there were outbursts from some of attending the meeting, the interaction between Martinez and Gutierrez did not appear to cause a noticeable disruption to the proceedings.
