Uvalde Together Resiliency Center dedicated to providing free help and assistance in aftermath of the May 24th Tragedy

The Resiliency Center offers free counseling and support services to the people of Uvalde

Approximately seven months after the Robb School Massacre on May 24th, 2022,  many people in Uvalde are continuing to struggle with symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other emotional trauma, anxiety and depression. Katherine Maxwell-Rambie and Jayme Johnston spoke about the Resiliency Center to the Rotary Club of Uvalde on Thursday, January 19th.

According to Katherine Maxwell-Rambie Community Liaison and Jayme Johnston Program Manager of the Resiliency Center, the organization is dedicated to staying in Uvalde to provide free counseling and support for anyone in Uvalde facing emotional trauma, needing encouragement and help overcoming life’s obstacles. The Center provides a variety of services including private counseling, play therapy, art therapy for children, parents, adults and senior citizens.

“When the Uvalde tragedy happened, the Center was called to come help Uvalde,” Maxwel-Rambie said

“We serve everyone,” Maxwell Rambie She went on to say the services they provide are free and not based on the ability to pay.

The Resiliency Center would not be here without the Ecumenical Center,” Maxwell Rambie said, referring to the Ecumenical Center for Education. Counseling. Health.

Some of the categories of people the Center has helped include students and families at Robb School, first responders, medical care professionals and many others.

“Not everyone’s treatment looks the same and not everyone’s healing looks the same. We’re here to help everyone.” Johnston said.

The Resiliency Center is currently located behind on the grounds of the Uvalde County Fairplex. Their future location will be located at the former First State Bank building located on East Main Street.
