Eclipse Coordinator sought to manage and coordinate preparation for 2024 Solar Eclipse:
The Texas Hill Country River Region (THCRR ) held its second meeting on Wednesday, November 2nd at 3 PM at Neal’s Dining Room in Concan to discuss planning and preparation for the April 8th, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse over Uvalde County and the greater Texas Hill Country.
In a presentation slide show shown at the meeting, a slide as part of the PowerPoint presentation show at the meeting indicated that as many as 50 thousand people could make their way to Uvalde and the Uvalde County River Region to be situated in totality’s path to see the phenomenon.
Texas Hill Country River Region Spokesperson and Concan business owner, Jake Guerrero said, “Under the guidance of Judge Mitchell, the Uvalde County Solar Eclipse Task Force is beginning to take shape as we begin appointing key leadership roles for each four committees. John Yeackle, Executive Director for the Uvalde Area Chamber of Commerce, will be leading the Local Outreach Committee. Forest Anderson, Emergency Management Coordinator – Uvalde County, is heading up the Emergency Operations Committee.
We will continue working with our local officials and area leaders to identify the remaining two committee leadership positions and to identify an Eclipse Coordinator who will work with these committees, the community and Texas Hill Country River Region full time for at least 18 months. It is our goal that together, we can maximize this historic solar eclipse experience for Uvalde County residents and tourists alike. “
Emergency Management Coordinator Forrest Anderson said, “The Uvalde County Office of Emergency Management will be working with adjoining county Coordinators to plan for, and facilitate a managed response regarding the Eclipse events. This coordination works with Law Enforcement, EMS, Fire, Emergency Management, and Public Safety Communications to prepare for & respond to any incidents that may occur during the event cycles.”
THCRR announced at the meeting a new Solar Eclipse Facebook Page was launched.
We hope that the community will follow the dedicated Facebook page that was created and/or reference the website (Uvaldecountysolareclipse.com), both of which were created to inform residents, businesses and tourists on our upcoming, historic solar eclipse events.
