We expect to get the Pot of Gold tickets from the printer this week so we can start selling. The tickets are $100 each and only 400 tickets will be sold. The drawing will be held at 8 p.m.. on November 11th in the Uvalde Grand Opera House annex. Drawing will be for the first prize of $10,000 in real gold coins, second prize TBA and third prize of an original Dolores Vernor coat
We will feature Sharon Shimp as our guest reader for Story Hour on Wednesday 10/5 at 10:30 a.m.

Our Artist of the Month will be a group of UCISD students who will be exhibiting their work in the main display cases and on the Artist of the Month wall.

Lupe Vela with Community Health Development will be manning a table in the foyer on Wednesdays with information on changes in Medicare and on enrollment in healthcare plans. He will be able to answer questions and provide forms needed for changes and for enrollment.
Thursday 10/6 is our day to connect qualified Uvaldeans between noon and 3 p.m. with free access to lawyers in Austin with the Texas Legal Services Center on civil matters. Wednesday 10/12 this service is between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. offered for those facing evictions and those wishing to clear criminal records.
Also on Thursday will be Readalooud with Marie Walther from 5 – 7 p.m.
Saturday (each Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon) the library will host the Good News Club for young people.
The Doseum of San Antonio “Smart and Art Saturday” program sponsored by the Children’s Bereavement Center will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on October 8 and on November 12 with STEM focused activities.:
The “All Fired Up” group from Las Vegas will hold a tile painting workshop on 10/22 and 10/23 at the library.
Next week, El Progreso Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday 10/13 in El Progreso Meeting Room. This groups has sponsored the library since 1903 and helps raise funds for ongoing budget needs. Membership is $25 per year and the meetings are held at noon so ladies who work may bring their lunch and participate. The Club will hold a cakewalk on December 3rd during Christmas at the Crossroads.
Also on 10/13, Kathleen Maxwell-Rambie will present a program on Grief recovery beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Catholic Women will hold their annual meeting at the library beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. More details are available from Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Carolyn Bevis.
The Uvalde de las Encinas Chapter of the NSDAR will meet on Saturday 10/15 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
Deyinara Salazar with be our special guest reader at Story Hour 10/19.
The library will be hosting a Genealogy Lock-in on 10/23.
