First State Bank location on Main Street to become future Resiliency Center site

Uvalde County Commissioners Court Report by Jennifer Gilliland

The Uvalde Commissioners’ court met Monday, August 8, 2022, to discuss several financial
issues as well as several upcoming construction projects. First, the annual budget will be up for approval
during the next meeting including payroll. The court discussed the future construction of the Resiliency
Center which will be located at the abandoned First State Bank of Uvalde on Main Street. The architect
proposed adding restrooms where the drive thru currently exists. The Texas government supplied the
funding for this project.

Also, bids and funding for the Uvalde County Courthouse Annex will be located
where the old jail was. Lastly, the Laredo Walmart on Bob Bullock granted Uvalde County $500.00 which
will help maintain the Fairplex operations.
