School Board lists changes before start of school. Citizens frustrations continue over inaction on Chief Arredondo and police personnel

Tuesday’s special school board meeting started with a power point presentation by Superintendent Hal Harrell about the district’s actions on counseling, security, campus procedures and campus realignment going into the 2022-2023 school year. As part of the presentation, Harrell announced that virtual learning options will be made available to students in the coming year.

Yet, once the open forum portion of the meeting began several speakers returned to the issue of Police Chief Pete Arredondo and  district school police force personnel and the lack of action the school board has taken to fire Arredondo or take any disciplinary actions towards the UCISD police force officers.

The superintendent voiced frustration as he mentioned the current meeting delays with Arredondo’s attorneys.

Several Citizens including [Pastor Emma Trimble spoke against the naming of the Zen Garden planned for Dalton Elementary citing its connection to Buddhism.
