Robb School Victims families and Uvaldeans voice opposition to NRA holding meeting in Hondo and raffling off AR-15 rifle as part of event

After hearing citizens’ comments both in favor of and against the upcoming NRA meeting to be held on Hondo City Property, the Council voted to withdraw from its rental agreement allowing the NRA to hold a meeting on City’s property.

Both supporters of the NRA and opponents spoke to the Hondo City Council Monday evening August 1st with the council chambers filled with dozens of protesters listening and following to the proceedings from outside the council’s chambers looking through tinted glass and holding up signs in opposition of the meeting.

Earlier on the same day in Uvalde a gathering of victims families and protesters stood outside Uvalde CISD Central Offices on North Getty protesting the school district. It was learned by the Uvalde Hesperian that the organized group showed up at Uvalde CISD Central offices starting at 3 PM to deliver a written list of action items the group was demanding the district take.
